Update: Flash flood watch to continue through Sunday morning

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The National Weather Service in New Orleans issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines and St. Bernard Parishes.

The flash flood watch will continue through tonight and into Sunday morning.

A band of heavy rain could linger over the gulf coast this afternoon potentially adding an extra 1 to 3 inches of rain in the area causing street flooding in low-lying area with poor drainage.

Scattered showers and thunder storms are expected to continue through Tuesday with the majority of rainfall happening along the coast.

Scattered power outages have been reported in the metro area.

Initial reports say one victim was found dead at the location. NOPD is investigating the incident and has not provided any additional information at this time.

    Firefighters save Mandeville crane operator submerged in canal

    Firefighters with St. Tammany Fire District #4 conducted a water rescue in Mandeville Thursday.  Firefighters were dispatched to the scene where they found a crane had overturned and was submerged in a canal. According to the report, the operator was still underwater. Within four minutes of dispatch, firefighters arrived on scene. Along with the assistance of some of the work crew members, firefighters were able to quickly get the crane operator out of the water and to Fire D...
