LSU holds off Auburn, 35-21

New Orleans -- Jeremy Hill ran for a career-best 183 rushing yards and three touchdowns to lead the No. 6 LSU Tigers to a 35-21 victory over Auburn.

With the win, LSU improves to 4-0, 1-0 in SEC play and will next face the No. 9 Georgia Bulldogs in Athens.

Hill scored on runs of 49, 10 and six yards, showcasing the combination of speed, agility and toughness that makes him one of the best running backs in the nation.

Quarterback Zach Mettenberger completed 14-of-22 attempts for 229 yards and a touchdown, but he also threw his first interception of the season. Receiver Jarvis Landry hauled in a team-high seven receptions for 188 yards and a score.

Defensively, LSU surrendered 437 total yards but produced a pair of interceptions and a fumble recovery.

LSU led 21-0 at the break, and Auburn slowly clawed its way back into the game, but Mettenberger's 32-yard scoring strike with Landry distanced the Tigers once again in the fourth quarter. Jalen Mills' late game interception all but sealed the win as well.
