Person of interest sought in Faubourg St. John shooting

NEW ORLEANS - Police want to talk to a man who may have information about a Sunday evening shooting in the Faubourg St. John neighborhood. They emphasize that the person seen walking in this video is not a suspect.

At about 6:30 p.m., a 36-year-old man was walking in the 3000 block of Ponce De Leon Street when a man riding a bicycle approached him and opened fire, striking the victim several times in the leg and torso.

The gunman fled south on Ponce de Leon, then unknown.  The suspect had dreadlocks and was wearing a black shirt and black shorts. He was riding a white or light-colored bicycle.

The victim is listed in critical condition.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111. Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward for tips that lead to an arrest and indictment.
