The gist of the Seagate Slim Portable USB 3.0 external drive is size, speed, and ease. Slightly thicker than an iPhone, its brushed metal design easily fits in a pocket, purse, or briefcase. The included Seagate Dashboard then makes setting-up automatic local backup or creating a scheduled backup plan as easy as a few clicks.
With the Save feature, user-generated content can be backed-up from popular social networks. You can also post content. Uploading multiple files is incredibly easy, and you can even add comments!
Less than 10mm thin and weighing a little over 5.25 ounces, the device even comes with a pre-installed NTFS driver for Mac, so you can use the Slim Portable interchangeably between a PC and a Mac without reformatting.
Available in silver or black but only in one size, 500GB, the Seagate Slim Portable USB 3.0 external hard drive sells for $79.99. For more information, visit Seagate.com.
Company offers comprehensive data rescue and hardware replacement service aimed at consumers
Seagate Technology recently announced Seagate Rescue and Seagate Rescue and Replace, two affordable data protection offerings aimed at consumers. These first-of-their-kind data protection plans offer coverage for almost any brand of internal/external rotational hard disk drive or solid-state drive, providing recovery services for data lost due to physical damage, corruption, or accidental deletion.
Seagate claims to be the first storage solutions provider to offer a protection plan that includes both drive replacement and data recovery services. The latter is provided at a fraction of the going rate for recovery services purchased after a drive failure or catastrophic data loss occurs. For terms and conditions, see the following documents: Seagate® Rescue and Replace Service Plan; Seagate® Rescue Service Plan
The two plans will be offered initially exclusively through Seagate's website. Retail and manufacturing partners, however, are expected to be added in the future.
Seagate's Rescue Service Plan comes in 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-year flavors, priced at $19.99, $29.99, $39.99, and $49.99, respectively. Rescue and Replace, which adds a replacement hard drive to the mix, goes for $29.99, $39.99, $49.99 and $59.99, respectively, for the same four time periods. For more information, visit Seagate.com.
