Police seek Canal Street robbers caught on camera

NEW ORLEANS - Police have a new lead as they investigate an armed robbery that took place last weekend in a normally safe area downtown.

Images from a surveillance camera near the foot of Canal Street captured several young people running just moments after the crime.

Officers say the victim reported that several robbers punched him in the face Saturday night and then escaped with his property.

The NOPD needs the public's help as it tries to identify those shown in the surveillance video. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestopppers at (504) 822-1111. Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward for tips that lead to an arrest and indictment.
