Thibodaux, La. - Thibodaux police are investigating a double homicide near South Thibodaux Elementary School. It happened Wednesday shortly before 10 p.m. in the 100 block of Iris Street.
Police responded after someone reported hearing gun shots. They found a vehicle with both victims inside of it. Investigators say both men were shot several times.
Police chief Scott Silverii identified the victims as 19-year-old Tre Scott and 26-year-old Jordy Williams. Both men are from Thibodaux.
An uncle of one of the victims says he is still trying to come to terms with what happened.
"He was a beautiful person, real quiet, never worried about anybody. He was beautiful. He wasn't a bad person," said Edward Miller.
This is the first double homicide in Thibodaux this year. But, it is the second double homicide in Lafourche Parish in the last week. A gunman killed two men in LaRose over the weekend. Lafourche Parish deputies are still investigating that case.
"It is very rare. Thibodaux is a very safe community and it's an unfortunate event," said Silverii.
