New seismic activity around Assumption Parish sinkhole

Bayou Corne, La. - Crews working to stop a sinkhole from growing in Assumption Parish have been told to stop for now.

Emergency managers say engineers are noticing new seismic activity in the area. The activity usually signals the movement of gas below the sinkhole.

A salt cavern owned by Texas Brine Co. collapsed last year, causing the sinkhole.

Homeowners have been evacuated from the area because of the problem.
