Houma teenager arrested after attempting to set mother, house on fire

Updated:

HOUMA, La. - Police arrested a Houma teenager after he allegedly poured gasoline on his mother and around their house.

At about 6:10 a.m. this morning, police responded to a domestic disturbance call on Thomas Drive. When they arrived on the scene the 33-year-old caller told them her 17-year-old son, Markwan Trosclair, poured gasoline on her and all over the inside of the house. He then attempted to set her and the house on fire, but she managed to push him out the door before he could strike his lighter.

Officers began a local search for Trosclair and found him walking across the Houma Twin Span bridge. He was arrested without any trouble, but is refusing to talk to investigators.

Trosclair was arrested or aggravated battery-domestic violence, attempted aggravated arson and possession of marijuana. He remains in the Terrebonne Parish Jail.
