New Orleans -- Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Deputies are investigating an incident where a man died nearly three months after being shot with a crossbow. The incident occurred on July 10, 2013 in the 4200 block of Lac Couture Drive in Harvey. The victim is identified as 52-year-old Robert Kaltenbaugh of Belle Chasse.
According to police, on July 10, Kaltenbaugh went over to the apartment of Edward Brown, 59, located in the 4200 block of Lac Couture Drive to retrieve some belongings of Brown's ex-girlfriend. Both men began to argue and Brown repeatedly told Kaltenbaugh to leave, but he did refused. Brown became angered and fired the crossbow at Kaltenbaugh, striking him in the abdomen.
Kaltenbaugh was transported to University Hospital where he remained there in critical condition before passing away from his injuries on Saturday.
The original findings in the case were turned over the Jefferson Parish District Attorney's Office. A supplement report will be added, because of the new information.
If you have any additional information that could help investigators, you are asked to call detective Travis Eserman at 504-364-5300 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 504-822-1111.
