UPDATE: As of 10:45 a.m., Entergy officials reported that the 4,800 customers who lost power because of a problem with a transformer at the University City substation all had their power restored. Officials with Entergy said work crews were now focusing on the traffic lights at several intersections in central and northern Kenner.
Kenner, La. - Problems with a transformer at the University City substation has resulted in a power outage that has affected an estimated 4,800 customers, according to Entergy officials.
Power company crews were at the scene and reported that power will be restored incrementally. All customers are expected to have power by about noon to 1 p.m.
In the meantime, the Kenner Public Works Department has set up portable stop signs at a number of intersections in central and northern Kenner to assist with traffic control.
