The Saints division rival, the Atlanta Falcons, floundered on Monday Night Football falling in the final seconds to the New York Jets, despite scoring a go-ahead touchdown with less than two minutes remaining.
After the Falcons score, Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith smoothly executed a series passes to guide his team back down the field as time ticked away, getting close enough to the end zone to set up a potentially game winning field goal with just seconds left on the clock.
Enter kicker Nick Folk, who nailed a 43-yard field goal on the final play, giving the Jets a 30-28 victory.
Saints punter Thomas Morstead tweeted this out after the game:
