LSU's defense dominates Florida, Tigers win 17-6

New Orleans -- The LSU Tiger defense produced its best outing of the season, limiting the Florida Gators to a pair of field goals in a 17-6 Tiger win in Death Valley.

LSU improved to 6-1 on the season and 3-1 in SEC play. Florida falls to 4-2 overall, 3-1 in league play.

A defensive battle on both sides, the teams combined for just 567 total yards, 240 for Florida, but the Tigers sustained a couple of scoring drives and grinded out the victory.

On the first play of the second quarter, fullback J.C. Copeland scored on a one-yard touchdown run for LSU to put the Tigers on top 7-3.

Later in the quarter, backup quarterback Anthony Jennings took a QB sneak into the endzone from one yard out to increase LSU's lead to 14-3.

Both teams would add a field goal in a second half that featured solid defensive play along with some offensive miscues.

Zach Mettenberger completed just 9-of-17 passes for 152 yards. Running back Jeremy Hill tallied 121 yards on 19 carries.

Receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry combined for six catches and 105 yards.

LSU will travel to Oxford next weekend to face Ole Miss.
