HAHNVILLE, La. - A Texas man was arrested after he drove the wrong way on westbound I-10, causing multiple accidents Monday morning.

Michael Gomez, 35, of Texas was booked into the St. Charles Parish Jail. He was booked with DWI, reckless operation and driving the wrong way.

Officials re-opened the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 over the Bonnet Carre Spillway after three accidents closed down westbound traffic for hours.

State Police say Gomez was driving an SUV the wrong way when he hit two 18-wheelers in separate accidents around 3 a.m.

Troopers say a third accident happened when a car ran into the rear of another truck.

All the drivers involved in the crashes sustained minor injuries.
