New Orleans, La.- Firefighters tackled a three-alarm fire in Mid-City when a six-unit abandoned apartment building went up in flames in the 200 block of North Roman Street Tuesday.

The first fire crews on the scene called a second alarm at 2:41 p.m. to keep the fire from spreading to another apartment building behind the one on fire. Because of the condition of the structure, firefighters attacked the fire from the outside as a safety precaution.

It took 51 members of the NOFD less than an hour and a half to bring the fire under control. No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
