Robbers wore Halloween masks in Covington break-in

COVINGTON, La. – Police have arrested two men accused of donning Halloween masks to rob a Covington woman inside her home.

Police said the robbers got away with the victim's purse and a small amount of cash and fled into a wooded area. Police and St. Tammany sheriff's deputies set up a perimeter. Sheriff's K-9 "Dan" was able to flush one of the men out of the woods, and he was arrested by a deputy.

Covington Police found the second man hiding under a house. Investigators searched the area and recovered the victim's purse and the masks used by the suspects.

Police booked 22-year-old Vincent Payne with armed robbery, resisting arrest and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Dedrian Chatman, 23, was booked with armed robbery, illegal possession of stolen things and resisting arrest.
