Chief Investigator of The St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office resigns

New Orleans -- Mark Lombard, the Chief Investigator of the St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office, has resigned. The resignation was noted in an email sent to government officials, Sunday morning by St. Tammany Parish Councilman Jerry Binder.

The email states that Binder was notified of Lombard's resignation during a Friday meeting with Chief Deputy Coroner Michael DeFatta. Lombard's resignation comes the same day as Dr. Peter Galvan's. Galvan was the subject of several Lee Zurik investigations, questioning the spending practices of the now former St. Tammany Parish Coroner.

Lombard has not been charged with any crime, but has been implicated in the charges against Galvan.
