Covington police investigate armed robbery of pizza restaurant

COVINGTON, La. - Covington police are investigating the armed robbery of a pizza delivery company early Monday morning.

The robbery happened an about 1 a.m. on Collins Boulevard. Investigators said two men waited for the staff to leave the closed business and robbed them at gunpoint. Both men were armed with silver, semi-automatic handguns equipped with laser sights. After taking a small amount of money, the suspects fled on foot.

Covington police contacted the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office and asked for a K-9 unit to be dispatched. Covington officers and sheriff's deputies then tracked the suspects, but soon lost the scent, leading officers to believe the suspects got into a vehicle and fled the area.

The suspects are described as white males wearing ski masks, hooded sweatshirts and gloves.
