'Vehicle of interest' sought in French Quarter shooting

NEW ORLEANS - Eighth District detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying the owner of a dark blue SUV that may have been involved in an early Monday morning shooting in the French Quarter.

Investigators said a 23-year-old man was shot at about 3 a.m. as he walked in the 400 block of Iberville Street. He was taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Detectives were able to obtain surveillance video of a vehicle they believe the suspects arrived in. The dark blue SUV parked on North Peters just past Iberville Street, and the suspects are seen exiting the SUV and walking around the corner where the shooting occurred. The suspects are then seen returning to the vehicle and driving off in the direction of Canal Street.

The two male suspects may have been accompanied by a female.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111. Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward for information leading to an arrest and indictment.
