WEST FELICIANA, La. - Louisiana's lethal-injection drug has an overdue expiration date.

A death row inmate's attorney tells our partners at The Lens that he has reviewed documents that prove the state's lethal-injection drug expired in September.

He's concerned that executing someone with expired drugs could lead to a "cruel and unusual" death.

The Lens has been trying to pin down the Department of Corrections since February on the expiration date of the drug.

An attorney for the state has repeatedly said no record of the expiration date exists.
