The VMD (Vehicles of Mass Destruction) Cannon Commando by Skyrocket Toys is a hoot! The tank treads of the battery-powered, radio-controlled Gatling gun provide precise control over any terrain, and the unit can discharge its magazine of 16 foam missiles at a rate of up to 12 per second!
Each projectile has a range of up to 50 feet, controlled by a manual trajectory adjustment (elevation control.) The remote control, which has a 100-foot range, has an arming toggle switch with an ominous red protective cover and a lit "fire" button.
The cannon requires six AA batteries, and the RC command console takes one 9-volt battery, none of which are included. The unit is designed for kids ages 8-80 and ships with 32 foam darts.
Available at ToysRUs, Kmart, Walmart, and other retailers, the Skyrocket VMD Cannon Commando has an MSRP of $59.99. For more information about Skyrocket Toys, visit the company's website.
Pulse Performance Products is dedicated to creating the highest-quality, best performing scooters for youngsters wanting to ride in style. The Southern California company launched in 2007 with its innovative Kick N Go pulse performance products and is now a major player in the electric scooter product space.
The top-of-the-line Bolt has 150 watts of power and delivers speeds of up to 13 MPH. Powered by 24-volt sealed lead acid batteries (AC charger included), riders weighing up to 120 lbs. can enjoy up to 40 minutes of ride time. A twist throttle with ITR (Instant Throttle Response) technology contributes to the unit's impressive agility. For ages 8+, the Bolt scooter sells for $189.
The less-powerful Reverb features an innovative two-piece deck with traction pad to keep young feet planted and in-control. The scooter features a 100-watt, chain-driven motor and speeds up to 10 MPH.
Power is again controlled by a twist throttle and transferred to the pavement via 140mm, maintenance-free urethane wheels and ABEC-5 bearings, which yield a smooth ride with an abundance of road feel. Like the Bolt, the Reverb's 24-volt sealed lead acid batteries (AC charger included) provide up 40 minutes of ride time.
The young sons of WVUE Fox 8 photog (and 'Sync Up with Seregni' contributor) Bernel Davis, Jr. were eager to test drive the Reverb loaner unit for me. Duran (age 10) and Bernel, III (age 13). both give Pulse's electric scooter a vigorous thumbs-up and a resounding "Awesome!!" 'Nuff said.
For riders up to 120 lbs. and/or ages 8+, the Pulse Reverb sells for $129. For more information, visit Pulsescooters.com.
