Orleans Parish School Board 2nd in state for school performance

New Orleans, La. - The Orleans Parish School Board's schools achieved the second highest school performance scores in Louisiana according to a report released today by the Louisiana Department of Education, said Stan Smith, OPSB Interim Superintendent.

The OPSB received an "A" and a 2013 Annual District Performance Score of 108.2, second only to Zachary Community Schools. In addition, the OPSB performance score appears to have grown 4.1 points.

While the State of Louisiana changed the scoring scale, only two OPSB highest performing school's scores dropped below an A while still demonstrating growth in excess of 9 points.  Three OPSB schools  received 10 bonus points for their ongoing commitment to improving the scores of struggling students.

"Our success is a team effort that involves parents and students along with our outstanding principals, teachers and support staff," said Dr. Rosalynne Dennis, OPSB Chief Academic Officer. "Together, we can make the difference."
