Updated:

BOGALUSA, La. - After a months-long investigation, seven people were arrested Thursday in connection with a gambling ring in Washington Parish.

In March, State Police detectives received information from the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office related to an illegal gambling ring. Through their investigation, detectives were able to gather information that led to the arrests of Lee Henry, 64, and Larry Blackwell, 68, both of Bogalusa, on charges of illegal gambling. In addition, search warrants were executed at their homes.

The warrants were executed by Louisiana State Police, Washington Parish Sheriff's Office, DEA New Orleans and the Louisiana National Guard Air Support. Detectives recovered approximately $10,000.00 cash, bookmaking paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana.

Five additional arrests were made: Debra Henry, 58, for conspiracy to commit illegal gambling; Ronald Peters, 47, for conspiracy to commit illegal gambling; Melvin Fields, 57, for conspiracy to commit illegal gambling; Willie D. Roberts Jr, 20, for possession of marijuana (second offense); and Lacourte J. Cooley, 24, for simple possession of marijuana.

All were booked into the Washington Parish Jail.
