Kenner man arrested after firing a shotgun at his wife

Kenner, La. - Kenner Police arrested a 63 year-old man for firing a shotgun at his wife during a domestic incident, according to a spokesman with the Kenner Police Department.

Police say last Friday, officers responded to a report of gunshots in the 2100 block of Iowa Avenue.

Police say 63 year-old Charles Gussett had been involved in a domestic dispute with his wife.  During the argument, the situation escalated and Gussett physically assaulted his wife and armed himself with a shotgun.

As his wife fled the residence, Gussett fired a shotgun missing her and struck a nearby home causing damage.

Police were able to recover a 12 gauge shotgun.

Immediately after the incident, Gussett fled the location, but was taken into custody Sunday after he returned to the residence.

Gussett remains in custody. No bond has been set.

Gussett was charged with attempted manslaughter, domestic abuse battery, aggravated criminal damage to property, and possessing a firearm by a felon.
