Vigil held for young father found shot to death in N.O.East

NEW ORLEANS - Family and friends of a young father who was found shot to death in New Orleans East prayed for justice Monday at a candlelight vigil.

Loved ones of 22-year-old Justin Mitchell are calling for anyone who may have information about his murder to come forward.

Mitchell was found Oct. 7 on the front lawn of a home on Stemway Drive. He had been shot in the chest and back.

Family members say Mitchell was a hard-working man who had three children, including a set of twins.

"He was very energetic," said Mitchell's mother, Theresa. "He loved people. He'd smile, and this is one of his twins, and when I say he loved his kids, he loved his kids. Everybody that came around the energy was just so high. He just brought smiles to everybody."

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111. Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward for tips that lead to an arrest and indictment.
