Man dies in early morning trailer fire

Dulac, La. - A 72 year-old man was killed Wednesday morning in a trailer fire, according to a spokesperson with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office.

The fire broke out around 1am at a residence located at 6820 Shrimper's Row in Dulac.

Officers and firefighters responded within minutes and found the trailer was engulfed in flames.

The homeowner said that she managed to escape the burning trailer, but her husband had yet to exit.

Once the fire was out, the body of a male was located inside the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was identified as 72 year-old Joseph Verdin.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
