New Orleans, La. - – In observance of the Feast of All Saints, all Catholic Church parishes of the Archdiocese of New Orleans will host several masses.
In addition to extended Mass times, parishes and Catholic cemeteries will bless the graves at local cemeteries as well. Below is a listing of cemetery blessings and other events to be held on All Saints Day throughout the archdiocese.
Archbishop Gregory Aymond's All Saints Day Schedule:
- Mass and Blessing of the Graves at 10 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 4640 Canal St., New Orleans. Archbishop Aymond may be made available for interviews immediately following the Blessing of the Graves. Please make prior arrangements with Sarah McDonald.
- Mass and Blessing of the Graves at 3 pm at All Saints Mausoleum
- Candlelight Vigil at 6pm at the proposed new Planned Parenthood Clinic on Claiborne Ave.
Cemetery Blessings set for November 1 unless otherwise noted:
St. Bernard Catholic Church will host an outdoor Mass and Cemetery Blessing at 10 am at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery located at 2805 Bayou Road in St. Bernard.
St. John the Baptist and St. Gertrude Parishes will host cemetery blessings at the Mennonite Cemetery and Sunset Cemetery in Paradis at 3 pm and 3:30 pm respectively and a blessing at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Des Allemands at 4:30 pm.
St. Anthony Parish will have Mass at 12 noon and 6 pm with Blessing of the Graves at St. Charles Cemetery in Luling at 2 pm.
St. Jane de Chantal Church in Abita Springs will celebrate Mass at 8 am and follow it with blessing of the Abita Springs Cemetery at 9:30 am.
Good Shepherd Parish in New Orleans will have Mass at 6:30 am at St. Henry Church and 8:30 am at St. Stephen. The pastor will bless Soniat Cemetery at 11:30 am and St. Joseph Cemetery at 12 noon.
St. Agnes Catholic Church in Jefferson will have Mass at 8 am followed by a school Mass at 9:30 am and a Mass at 12 noon. Throughout the day till 8 pm, the church will have lighted candles placed on the altar rails in memory of deceased loved ones.
St. Anselm Parish will celebrate Mass at 8 am and immediately follow Mass with blessing of the Madisonville Cemetery .
