NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A federal judge has unsealed hundreds of pages of court documents relating to allegations of prosecutorial misconduct in the case against five former New Orleans police officers who were convicted of charges stemming from deadly shootings on the Danziger Bridge after Hurricane Katrina.

U.S. District Judge Kurt Engelhardt unsealed more than 400 pages of those documents on Friday, but he ruled that other records can't be publicly released yet due to a "compelling interest of confidentiality."

In SDeptember Engelhardt ordered a new trial for the former officers, citing allegations of "grotesque" prosecutorial misconduct.

The Associated Press and Times-Picayune had urged Engelhardt to unseal all of the court documents related to the Justice Department's probe of the misconduct allegations, including comments that at least three prosecutors anonymously posted on a newspaper's website.
