1 injured, cars damaged after rocks thrown from Thibodaux bridge

Updated:

THIBODAUX, La. - At least one person was injured and several cars damaged by people throwing rocks onto passing cars from a bridge at Lafourche Crossing in Thibodaux.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced that a reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons who were throwing rocks from the railroad trestle bridge above La. Highway 1 Saturday night.

Webre says at least four vehicles were damaged and one person was hospitalized with an eye injury.

"Tossing rocks onto vehicles traveling at over 50 mph should be no one's idea of fun," said Webre. "This is a serious crime that not only damages property, but could also be fatal. All it would take is one driver to overreact and strike a guardrail or an oncoming car, and multiple lives could potentially be lost. We ask for your help in bringing these criminals to justice."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Bayou Region Crimestoppers at (800) 743-7433.
