Resident attacked in robbery near S. Carrollton

New Orleans, La.  Detectives with the New Orleans Police Department are searching for a man who attacked a resident during a robbery. The incident happened early Wednesday morning near the intersection of S. Carrollton Ave. and Green Street.

Second District officers say the victim of the robbery was dropped off near his home by a friend around 3:30 am. As he began walking to his home, a silver four door vehicle pulled up.

Police say the suspect, possibly a white or Hispanic man, exited the car and began asking for directions to an address. The victim was unable to help with the directions and continued to walk to his home. That's when the suspect charged at the victim, knocking him to the ground and ripping his shirt.

Police say the robber grabbed the victim's wallet from his rear pocket and took his cell phone.   The victim's wallet contained several credit cards and an unknown amount of cash.

The victim described the suspect as a White or Hispanic male, 5'09", 190 lbs., unshaven with a tight "buzz" cut. The vehicle description is a silver or light colored four door vehicle.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
