Elderly man killed in Metairie traffic accident

Metairie, La. - A 75 year-old man was killed Friday afternoon when he walked into the path of a cement truck.

A spokesman with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office says the accident happened around 1pm at the intersection of Craig and Hastings.

Police say the driver of a local cement company had just dropped off a load of cement at a street construction site at the intersection. According to witnesses, as the driver pulled away from the intersection, the victim, who was walking Northbound, apparently walked into he path of the truck. 

The driver of the cement truck identified only as a forty year-old New Orleans man was not cited.

The victim's name has not been released.
