Off-duty Terrebonne deputy killed in motorcycle accident

HOUMA, La. - An off-duty deputy with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office was killed Thursday when his motorcycle was hit by a car, according to sheriff's spokeswoman Capt. Dawn Foret.

The deputy was identified as Taylor Segura, 23.

Investigators said Segura was riding down Bayou Gardens Road at about 7 p.m. when a car pulling out of the Southland Mall parking lot hit him.

Segura was taken to Terrebonne General Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation.

Segura was a five-year deputy with TPSO. He was hired in 2008 and began his career at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex. He was transferred to the patrol division, where he served as a patrolman for the past two years.

Segura leaves behind a wife, Alyssa Segura.
