Worker rescued after falling into Port Fourchon water tank


PORT FOURCHON, La. - A Coast Guard crew medivaced a man who fell 30 feet into a water tower Thursday.

According to the Coast Guard, a firefighter climbed into the tank to treat the man, who reportedly suffered a large gash to his head and possible fracture to his skull.

A Coast Guard helicopter crew airlifted the man to a New Orleans hospital. 

No other details about his condition were released.

Crews had drained the tank and were performing welding work when the accident happened.
