NEW ORLEANS - Police are investigating a stabbing in New Orleans East that left a 33-year-old man dead and two of his friends injured early Sunday morning.

The men were involved in a fight with two other men around 2 a.m. in a parking lot in the 4600 block of Michoud Boulevard, according to a news release from the police department.

One of the suspects used a knife to stab the victim in his chest and abdomen.  A second victim, described as a 35-year-old man, was stabbed in the abdomen.  Another man, 32, was cut on his forearm with a broken bottle used by one of the suspects.

The three men were taken to the hospital, where the first victim later died. Another is listed in stable condition and the third will be treated and released, the news release said.

Homicide investigators are gathering evidence and information to identify the suspects, as well as a motive, the department said.  Anyone with information can call Crimestoppers with an anonymous tip at 822-1111.
