Person of interest sought in armed robbery attempt

NEW ORLEANS - Police are asking for the public's help in identifying and locating a person of interest in an attempted armed robbery Sunday.

At 10:15 a.m. Second District officers were called to the 8700 block of South Claiborne Avenue. The victim told them he was trying to secure his bicycle when he was approached by a black male who grabbed him by the collar and implied that he had a weapon.

The victim said during the altercation another black male approached him from behind, sprayed some type of aerosol on the back of the victim's neck and began to strike him with a closed fist while the first black male demanded his keys.

When they didn't get any property, both subjects fled northbound on Eagle Street, then unknown.

The first subject is described as having a light complexion, short hairstyle with a beard and a heavy build with tattoos on both arms. The second subject was a black male wearing a dark shirt and  pants, with a light-colored hat and gloves.

Anyone with information about the incident or who can identify the person of interest in the photo is asked to contact the Second District Investigative Unit at 504-658-6020 or Crimestoippers at (504) 822-1111.
