Man arrested after stealing neighbor's water

THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - A 28-year-old Thibodaux man has been arrested for stealing his neighbor's utility service. Police Chief Scott Silverii says Tyrone Scott Jr. was arrested Tuesday on a charge of theft of utility service after a neighbor reported seeing him running his a water hose from outside their home into his home next door.

Police had received a similar complaint when Scott used the water hose without permission to wash his vehicle over the weekend. Silverii says Scott's utilities were turned off some time ago, but he denied running the hose into his home.

Scott was issued a misdemeanor summons and released from the Lafourche Parish Detention Center. If convicted, he could face up to six months in jail and a $500 fine.
