Former Jefferson Parish deputy pleads guilty


NEW ORLEANS - A former Jefferson Parish deputy pleads guilty to identity theft and bank fraud charges.

Federal prosecutors announced the plea by 48-year-old Mark Hebert Wednesday.

Hebert admitted to using the debit card of car accident victim Albert Bloch while Bloch was hospitalized in 2007.

The plea agreement states when bloch cancelled the card, Hebert then forged checks drawn from Bloch's account, and obtained another debit card in his name.

Bloch has not been seen since 2007.

Hebert faces up to 33 years in prison. His sentencing is March 14.
