BELLE CHASSE -  A woman was arrested on charges that she stole over $10,000 in cash from her employer.

According to the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office, Tara M. Choate confessed to taking cash from money bags that were sent to the office for deposit. Choate told police that she didn't know how much money she actually took, but blamed the theft on her addiction to prescription pain killers.

Choate was arrested and booked into the Belle Chasse Lockup on a charge of theft over $1,500. She remains in jail without bond pending a magistrate hearing today.

On October 3, 2007, Choate was convicted in Plaquemines Parish for two drug offenses, in which she received a two-year suspended sentence and two years of probation.
