Glover family demands documents from coroner

Updated:

NEW ORLEANS - The Glover family and a handful of protestors once again stood in front of the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office. They demanded paperwork they say they requested on their loved one, Henry Glover.

The family says they requested an autopsy report, lab photos and other documents, but were only given some of what they asked for.

"He lied to us because he was supposed to give us the documents. What is he hiding? He's hiding something," said Rebecca Glover.

"The only one that we have right now in our possession is the autopsy record, which is what I gave them," said Coroner Dr. Frank Minyard.

Minyard said he turned over the only documents in Glover's file, but the family isn't satisfied.

"I'm tired and I'm not playing games anymore," said Rebecca Glover.

This was the family's second trip to the Coroner's Office.

Earlier this week, protestors and family members pushed their way in, demanding that Minyard re-examine all the evidence in the case and re-classify it as a homicide.

Minyard agreed to reopen the case, but explained to the family that Glover's initial autopsy examination consisted of a bag of bones found inside of a burned out car.

A federal jury found the former New Orleans police officer charged in his death not guilty. David Warren said he shot Glover in self-defense.

Now, the family wants to the Orleans district attorney to file state murder charges against Warren.

"He said he shot him. He needs to be punished for what he did," said Edna Glover.

Minyard is hoping to get additional evidence as he re-examines the case.

"I'm waiting for a transcript of the trial of Officer David Warren's testimony and other people. I want to look at that," Minyard said.

The coroner, though, isn't promising anything.

"It's either going to be homicide or it's going to stay as it is - unclassified," Minyard said.
