Police seek truck involved in fatal early-morning hit-and-run


CHALMETTE, La. - A woman found dead on the side of the road early this morning is the victim of a hit-and-run.

According to police, 54-year-old Donna Landry, was found dead on the shoulder of West St. Bernard Highway at about 5:30 a.m. Landry was found by a passing bicyclist.

Police investigations showed that a late-model Dodge pick-up, possibly white in color, was the vehicle that hit and killed the victim.

State Police Troop B and St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's deputies were on the scene after Landry was found and shut down west-bound lanes of West St. Bernard Highway for several blocks near the scene. The lanes have since been re-opened.

Authorities are seeking information about the driver who struck Landry. Anyone with information about the driver or vehicle should call State Police Troop B at 504-471-2775 or the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office at 504-271-2501.
