JPSO investigates double homicide in Metairie

Metairie, La. - A man and woman were killed in an early morning shooting near I-10 and Clearview Parkway that police believe was drug related.

According to Jefferson Parish Sheriffs Office spokesman Glen Boyd, a man and two women were staying at the Super 8 on Clearview Parkway when the man either made or received a phone call leading the three people to drive to an apartment complex in the 2500 block of Pasadena Avenue.

Boyd said that two men approached the car and started talking to Demektric Whitfield-Anderson, who was in the drivers seat. The Whitefield-Anderson then began to back up the car in an attempt to leave the scene when the two men opened fire on the car.

Boyd said Whitfield-Andersen was shot multiple times and taken to East Jefferson General Hospital, where he died. Tacara C. Williams, the front passenger seat, died in the car.

A second woman was in the back seat and wasn't injured, Boyd said. Both victims were from Memphis, Tennessee.
