Mandeville, La. -  Mandeville Police arrested a 46 year-old man who reportedly broke into the home of his estranged wife and threatened to kill her. Police received a frantic 911 call early Saturday morning from a woman who lives in the 800 block of Penn Street.

The woman told the 911 dispatcher that her estranged husband had a gun and that he was trying to force entry into her house and that he was going to kill her.

When police arrived on the scene, shortly after 3:30 am, they could hear the woman victim screaming from a second floor bedroom, begging her husband not to shoot her. Officers made their way upstairs and located David Lockhart and his estranged wife in a bedroom where they intervened and took Lockhart into custody without further incident. The woman was uninjured.

Officers recovered a Winchester model 94 hunting rifle chambered in 30-30 that Lockhart allegedly threw under a bed just before the responding officers made contact with him

Lockhart was booked into the Saint Tammany Jail on charges of Aggravated Burglary, Aggravated Assault, Domestic Abuse Battery and Criminal Damage pursuant to a 911 call.
