NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The New Orleans Police Department's homeless coordinator is gearing up for another night of driving people to shelters.

B.B. St. Roman says that sometimes she has to argue with people who don't have enough blankets before they'll agree to go to a shelter. But she doesn't expect anyone to need much convincing Tuesday, after a night in the 20s and a day in the 30s.

St. Roman says about 500 people spent Monday night at three shelters.

Temperatures in New Orleans hit 26 early Tuesday, with a low of 28 to 30 expected early Wednesday.

St. Roman says she brought in only a handful of people last week, when it was warmer - but people were lining up on Monday. She says she drove 15 to shelters Monday night.
