FRANKLINTON, La. - Online dating turned into a real-life shooting when a man took a bullet to the groin.

According to the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office, Loretta Hebert shot her boyfriend, Gregory Dean, in the crotch with a .22 caliber pistol.

Hebert and Dean, who the WPSO said met online, were drinking when they started to fight. Hebert left the house and came back with a pistol. She put it on the counter and told Dean to leave.

According to Hebert, Dean refused to leave and threatened to hurt her, so she picked up the pistol and fired once, hitting Dean in the groin.

After being shot, Dean removed several handguns from his house and hid them in nearby woods. The couple then called police, and said the shooting was accidental.

Dean was not seriously injured and has already been treated and released from a local hospital.

Police investigations showed that the shooting was not accidental and detectives recovered the hidden weapons.

It was determined also that Dean had a criminal record, having been convicted in Florida in 2009 for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Cultivation of Marijuana and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Dean was arrested and transported to the Washington Parish Jail charged with Domestic Battery Abuse and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm. He remains in the jail with bond set at $100,000.

Hebert was also arrested, charged with Aggravated Battery.  She was released on $50,000 bond earlier today.
