2 deaths in Orleans attributed to deep freeze


NEW ORLEANS - Two deaths are attributed to the bitter cold earlier this week in New Orleans.

The Orleans Coroner's office confirms that a 58-year-old Davetta Odom died of hypothermia. Her body was found inside a tent beneath the expressway on Earhart Boulevard Wednesday.

Another homeless person died Tuesday night. John Gagliano, chief investigator for the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office, says Charles Anthony Bourgeois' body was found at #2 Poydras Street, near the World Trade Center. He was 32 years old.

The city had activated a freeze plan to help shelter the city's homeless as temperatures dipped in the 20s.
