Police searching for man who removed electronic monitoring device

New Orleans -- Orleans Parish Sheriff's Deputies, along with the New Orleans Police Department, are searching for a man who removed an electronic monitoring device. Police were alerted Sunday around 3:00 a.m. that a monitoring device was disabled in the  6000 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

According to police, the monitoring device belonged to 29-year-old Christopher Williams, who was originally charged with pandering and prostitution. Deputies responded to the 6000 block of Chef Menteur shortly after receiving an alert that the device had been tampered with. Williams was not on scene.

The NOPD and OPSO are currently searching for Williams. Once Williams is in police custody, he will be charged with criminal damage to property and tampering with an electronic monitoring device.

If you have any information that could help locate Christopher Williams, you are asked to call the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Department at 504-827-8505.
