Saints GM Mickey Loomis discusses Jimmy Graham's free agency

John Snell John Snell

Mobile, Al. - The Saints offseason is here and it will be a busy one for general manager Mickey Loomis.

In all, the Saints have 15 unrestricted free agents looking for new contracts. The biggest, of course, is Jimmy Graham who is coming off a monster year and will be looking for a monster payday.

He will undoubtedly get paid, it's not a matter of if, it's when. But also, at what position. Some have debated whether Graham should be paid as a wide receiver instead of a tight end, it's a designation that could mean millions in salary.

Loomis made it clear the Saints' position on Graham's position "You're asking me what position, is that what you're asking me? This business about what position he is? Look, he's a tight end, that's what we drafted him as, that's where we play him. In our view, he's a tight end, it's what makes him valuable."

Loomis added that if no long term deal can be reached, the Saints will place the franchise tag on Graham as a tight end.

Cam Jordan is one the best edge defenders in all of football, and last year was his absolute best. Long deserving, Jordan was finally named a first team All-Pro.  He finished the season with a career-high 13 sacks. Well in the prime of his career.
