NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The New Orleans City Council approved several new changes for Mardi Gras.
At Thursday's council meeting, members approved an ordinance prohibiting revelers from putting portable toilets and furniture on public property and the neutral ground.
The council also placed restrictions on placement of ladders and other personal items such as coolers, barbecue grills, and tents. Those items must be placed six feet from the curb.
Also prohibited is the use of "snap pops." Parade-goers cannot ride on the exterior of a vehicle during a parade. The exception does allow one person to ride on the back of a convertible.
It's also prohibited for people to throw any object at a float or any participant in a parade. If caught doing so, violators will be fined $250.
