NEW ORLEANS (AP) - In his second pro season, Pelicans shot-blocking extraordinaire Anthony Davis has also made himself into a scoring threat.

Whether he's grown enough to represent host-city New Orleans in next month's NBA All-Star game remains to be seen.

Averaging 20.2 points, 10.3 rebounds and three blocks a game, Davis has become the all-court player the Pelicans need him to be.

Coach Monty Williams says Davis, who was named to Team USA on Thursday, has done enough to merit an All-Star nod, and former All-Star guard Jure Holiday says he agrees.

The 20-year-old Davis says he's worked hard to get stronger and refine his game.

He says he wants to play in the All-Star game Feb. 16, but concedes that the Western Conference has numerous front-court stars who are also deserving.
