GALLIANO, LA (WVUE) - A Galliano man is charged with rape, battery, and false imprisonment following an incident last weekend.
A spokesman for the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office says Monday afternoon officers responded to the home of 28 year-old Lee Hartman where he had allegedly been holding a woman against her will since Friday, January 24th.
Police say Hartman and the woman were arguing Friday night, and Hartman allegedly did not allow the woman to leave the residence, nor did he allow her to use a phone. He allegedly threatened her with a knife and other objects throughout the weekend. Hartman was reportedly acting very strangely during the time and appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. Hartman allegedly forced the woman to have sexual intercourse against her will. He had also allegedly poked her in the eye with an object and threatened to kill the woman if she called police.
On the morning of Monday, January 27, another man arrived at the residence and began arguing with Hartman. During that time, the woman was able to contact the Sheriff's Office. Deputies arrived and were able to take Hartman into custody without incident. Detectives questioned Hartman where he admitted to several aspects of the incident, but claimed he could not remember everything. He also admitted to smoking Methamphetamine on Friday night prior to the incident.
Hartman was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked with Aggravated Rape, Aggravated Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, and False Imprisonment while Armed with a Dangerous Weapon. He was also found to have an existing warrant for Contempt of Court and was booked accordingly. Hartman is currently being held in lieu of $450,200 bond.
