Pedestrian killed trying to cross Earhart Expressway


NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans Police are investigating a traffic accident that left a 63-year-old man dead.

The accident occurred just after 7 p.m. on the Earhart Expressway near Mistletoe Street.  

The victim has been identified as 63-year-old Donald Berry. 

Police said the driver of a white GMC SUV was traveling westbound on the expressway when Berry walked into oncoming traffic. The SUV struck Berry and carried him for several feet.

Donald Berry was pronounced dead on the scene.

No one in the SUV was injured.

Details of the investigation will be referred to the City Attorney's office for review. No citations were issued.
